What Tarot Card Represents Aquarius?

Aquarius season runs from January 20th to February 18th, and brings with it hope, joy, and creative energies.

An Aquarius is a bit of a contradiction. On the one hand, they have a deep connection with their everyday strength. On the other, they’re always looking for new solutions, and exploring life from strange angles.

What Tarot Card Represents Aquarius?

Although you might assume water, Aquarius is actually an air sign, a symbol of free thinking and communication. Aquarius also has links to tarot cards, and it’s these connections we’ll explore here.

What Tarot Card Represents Aquarius?

All zodiac symbols are represented by a tarot card. The Star tarot card represents Aquarius! Like Aquarius, The Star has a close connection to the water, and a positive and hopeful energy.

What Does The Star Tarot Card Represent?

The Star tarot card is a card in the Major Arcana deck, and it’s seen to symbolize faith, clarity of purpose, and renewal.

The upright Star tarot card brings strength in the face of adversity, and reminds you of the blessings that surround you.

When you see The Star card in a time of trouble, it indicates that good things are coming, you just need to have faith.

The Star also suggests sharing this joy and abundance. It speaks to a generous spirit, and connects with a desire to bring happiness into the lives of those around you.

When The Star tarot card is reversed, it’s a sign that you’re losing hope in the face of life challenges (to find out more about reversed Tarot cards, read here). You might feel as though the universe is targeting you specifically, and has chosen to punish you.

Reversed, The Star acts as a test of faith. You have to learn to trust in yourself, and follow your own instincts.

You might be feeling uninspired, and struggling to engage with hobbies and interests that once brought you joy. The Reversed Star acts as a reminder to take time for yourself, and to nourish your soul.

The Star Appearance

The focal point of The Star tarot card is the water bearer. This is a naked woman, standing or kneeling at the edge of the water. One foot is in the water, while the other is perched on the land.

The hoot in the water represents the connection to the spiritual world. The foot on the land maintains a connection with practical strength.

In her hands are two containers. One pours water into the sea, while the other pours water onto the land. The container in the left hand represents the subconscious, and in the right, consciousness.

The water flowing into the sea represents the continuing cycle of fertility — we can see it working in the lush green surroundings. The water poured onto the land divides into five rivulets, representing the five senses.

Above the woman, the sky is filled with stars: seven small stars, and one large star. The seven small stars represent the chakras, while the largest star is a symbol of the core being.

Naked against the vast sky, the woman is both vulnerable and pure.

Aquarius And The Star

Aquarius and The Star are both highly linked to the element of water.

You’ve probably noticed that Aquarius has the word “aqua” in its name! Aquarius is the sign of the water bearer, a healer that brings water to the land. In turn, this allows for life to flourish.

What Tarot Card Represents Aquarius? (1)

We see this same imagery repeated on The Star tarot card. Aquarius has a fertile imagination, allowing for new ideas and thoughts to grow healthily.

The Star is a card that represents hope, and the positive and forceful energy of Aquarius has similar connotations.

Like the water bearer, Aquarius has one foot on land, and the other in the water. The foot on land roots them in reality, and helps them stay grounded.

But balancing in the water allows them to think beyond the confines of the everyday. Aquarius is known for being an innovator, and we can see this in The Star.

And as an innovator, they maintain their connection to the community — Aquarius is always thinking about doing things for others.

However, although Aquarius has a lot of links to water, it isn’t actually a water sign! Instead. Aquarius is an air sign. Air signs such as Aquarius are deeply connected to the mind, and tend to be innovative, off-beat, and very social.

Air represents intellect, while water represents emotion, and these two come together under Aquarius.

We can also see this duality in The Star. The water bearer bridges the gap between the land and the water, the everyday and the unusual.

Other Tarot Cards That Represent Aquarius

While The Star might be the tarot card with the strongest connection to Aquarius, it isn’t the only card that shares a bond with the sign.

There are 78 cards in a Tarot deck, and several of these have an important link to Aquarius.

As well as The Star, tarot cards that represent Aquarius are:

  • Knight of Cups
  • King of Swords
  • Knight of Swords
  • Seven of Swords
  • Five of Swords

As you’ve probably noticed, the suit of Swords has a strong association with Aquarius. This is one of the suits in the Minor Arcana. The Sword cards are linked to the element of air, much like Aquarius.

The Sword cards also symbolize intellect, and they connect to the quick and intuitive thinking of the Aquarius zodiac sign.

Aquarius Cards In Your Tarot Reading

If an Aquarius card comes up in your reading, it’s a sign that you need to keep hope. You are strong, and there is much in your life to celebrate.

You may need to start thinking outside the box, but make sure you keep your feet on the ground!

Aquarius has a positive energy, and it encourages you to engage with your passions. Embrace who you are as an individual, and use this to form greater connections with the universe.

Final Thoughts
