Some methods of charging crystals involve leaving them in sunlight. You can do this with Malachite, but too much sunlight can cause the color and luster of the crystal to fade.
Malachite is too soft and striking for it to survive direct sunlight for long periods so try to keep it in the shade as much as you can, especially during the day.
How To Cleanse Your Malachite Crystal
Malachite can rapidly soak up bad and negative energy and does so in large amounts. This can leave you feeling great, but will also leave your Malachite with all of these negative energies strapped inside.
Cleansing Malachite to release these bad vibes is very important. You need to recharge the crystal so that it can continue its work of soaking up the bad energy around you.

Bury It Underground
Malachite is associated with Earth, so burying it underground is a great way to cleanse and recharge it.
It will keep the crystal away from sunlight and water and allow it to safely expel the negative energy it has collected inside.
Make sure that the Malachite is fully buried and covered by dirt and soil. It doesn’t need to be very deep but it should be covered.
Leave it for a full day so that it can soak in the cleansing energy of the earth around it.
Surround It With Quartz Crystals
Quartz crystals are a must in any collection. These wonderful crystals are self-cleaning and never need to be cleansed themselves, but they can act as cleansers for other crystals and stones.
You can use quartz crystals to cleanse Malachite, just like you can use them to cleanse virtually any other type of crystal as well.
They will neutralize the negative energy that your Malachite has absorbed and leave it clear and cleansed.
Place your Malachite on a flat and even surface such as a tabletop. Then surround it with quartz crystals on as many sides as you can and leave it overnight.
By the time morning arrives, your Malachite will be cleansed and ready to protect you from negative energy once more.
Use Selenite
Selenite is a pearly white mineral that is commonly sold in flat slabs to cleanse other crystals. You can use a Selenite slab for cleansing Malachite as well as many other crystals in your collection.
Selenite is full of its own cleansing and healing energy and this helps it to purge any negative energies that have built up in other crystals.
Simply place your Malachite in the middle of a Selenite slab and leave it for at least six hours. Ideally, it should be left for around 24 hours.
Unlike Quartz, Selenite is not self-cleaning so you will need to cleanse it regularly if you’re using it to cleanse and purify other crystals.
Salt Circle And Moonlight
Salt is well-known for its purifying and protective properties and it works for cleansing crystals as well.
Place your Malachite on a windowsill where it can soak in the rays of a full moon. Surround it with a ring of salt and leave it overnight.
You must make sure that you do this on a full moon for it to be fully effective. You should also ensure that you dispose of the salt and don’t use it for anything else, including more cleansing.
How To Recharge Your Malachite Crystal
Some of the cleansing methods we just discussed can simultaneously recharge your Malachite as well. However, there may be times when you don’t need to cleanse the crystal and feel a simple recharge will be enough.
Moonlight
Place your Malachite on a windowsill during a full moon. Let it soak in the rays of the moon overnight.
Healing Crystals
You can charge your Malachite by placing it within a circle of healing crystals. The best crystals for this are Quartz, but you can also use tumbled stones such as Hematite if you don’t have any Quartz available.
Sunlight
This is a last resort for charging your Malachite. If there isn’t a full moon due and you don’t have any healing crystals, you can charge Malachite by leaving it on a windowsill in direct sunlight.
We don’t recommend doing this frequently, however, as it can fade the color of the crystal.
