So, without further ado, let us dive right in and get started!
Five Steps To Wrap Your Stone Crystals
Now that we have covered the basics, it is finally time to go over how to wire wrap your crystals. It is actually a much easier process than you might think.
So, in this section we are going to take a look at a simple five-step process that you can follow to wire wrap your brown crystals at home.
Before we get into how to wire wrap your crystal let’s cover what exactly you will need to do it. Below we have listed everything you will need for this process:
- Two Wires That Are About Twelve Inches In Length
- A Stone Or Crystal Of Your Choice
As long as you have these two things you should be able to easily wire wrap your crystal. WE do recommend that you have a small thin nosed pair of pliers to help twist the wire more easily. But this is not absolutely necessary.
With all of that said, let us finally take a look at how to wire wrap a crystal.
So, without further ado, let us dive right in and get started!
Step 1 – Twist Your Wires
The first thing you need to do is hold your two wires together. Make sure that you have the middle section of both wires and then twist them around each other.
You will need to make at least three twists but you can do a few more if you feel the need. It may be better to twist more than three times for larger crystals especially.
Step 2 – Place The Crystal
With your first twist in place you now need to place your crystal. To do this you will need to start by shaping the two wires to create a ‘V’shape. Put your crystal in this little slot.
With your crystal where you want it you now need to hold the wire and then bend the twisted wire up so that the twist that you have made is located on the side of the stone.
Step 3 – Wrap And Twist The Wires More
With your two loose wires on the other side of the first twist, you now need to twist the wires together so that the base of your crystal is held in place snugly.
Next, you will need to carry on twisting wires and bend them in such a way that they are snugly against both sides of the stone. So, your stone should have twisted bits of wire located on both the front and back of the crustal.
Step 4 – Cross Your Wires And Twist It More
Your fourth step involves you separating the wires from each of the twists that you have made. So that you can easily pull them to the opposite side of each other and the crustal.
In order to hold the lower part of your crystal in place you need to create a new twist.
To do this you are going to need to twist the wire on opposite sides of each other. You need to continue doing this as you work your way to the top of the stone.
As you are working it is very important that you make sure to push your stone down so that it sits right. Once you have enough twists you should have enough wire twists to hold your crystal in place on all sides.
You will need to continue pulling the weirdest to the opposite sides of each other and making twists until you are at the very top of your crystal or stone.
You will need to ensure that your wires are as tight as possible to the stone so that your new crystal pendant is nice and secure.
Step 5 – Create A Bail With The Excess Wire
Now that you have a nice secure wire cage for your crystal you need to make sure to create a good bail so that you can use your crystal as a pendant.
To do this you need to make a double-wrapped look which will be secured by playing with the extra wire and looping it around the neck. When it is secure you will need to cut the wire.
But first you need to ensure that it is night and tight. Once you are satisfied you can then clamp toms in the back of the neck.
With that done you should have a perfectly wrapped wire wrapped stone on your hands.
Final Thoughts
There are several different methods of wire wrapping crystals. The one that we have talked about in this article is one of the easiest methods out there.
But if you want to add a little extra flair to your crystals there are other ways to wrap them that are a little more fancy.
So, depending on what kind of look you are going for, there may be other techniques that you can use that may suit you better.
We hope that you have enjoyed reading this article and learning about how to properly wire wrap your crustal.
Despite this looking like a complicated pastime, it is far easier than you might think. With a little practice you should be able to easily make a beautiful crystal pendant.
With all of that being said, we hope that you have a great day. Goodbye for now!
